OPEN POSITIONS

Soteria Biotherapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager/Associate Director of Project Management in the San Francisco Bay Area to establish and lead the company’s Project Management function. This position will report to our SVP, Chief Technical Officer and will collaborate with key functions across the company for regular project review and strategy decisions in support of the company’s corporate and product development goals. This position will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards. In addition, they will promote a culture of collaboration and accountability through outstanding organizational and leadership skills.

Soteria is an early-stage therapeutics company focused on the development of next-generation T-cell engager therapies. Our proprietary technology, based upon founding research by UCSF professor and renowned protein engineer Jim Wells, enables precise control of T-cell activation and targeting. We believe this control will be the key to safer and more efficacious treatments for cancer. Primary Responsibilities

  • In alignment with the strategic priorities of the company and the product development team, support and facilitate business strategy prioritization through operational rigor, collaboration, and cross – functional/leadership alignment.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, which include identification of project tasks, clear milestones, and assignments of work project responsibilities, schedules, plans, resources, and status reports.
  • Proactively monitor development plans and progress to ensure communication on project/program strategy, status, critical path activities and resource requirements; ensure that risks and mitigation strategies are identified early and communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to promote collaboration, strategic alignment, and integrated planning and execution across multiple functions in the organization.
  • Work closely with extended senior leadership and business partners to define the meeting agendas, priorities and goals. Manage team meetings including documenting decisions and action items.
  • Translate project statuses into executive dashboard-style reporting.
  • Create executive presentations and messaging for various company meetings (Board, Exec Team, PDT, All hands).
  • Champion and enhance the use of project management tools, methodology, templates, and processes to drive efficiency, alignment, and effective planning.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a Program Management role within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with working knowledge of the drug development process.
  • BA or BS required; advanced degree and/or scientific background a plus.
  • Demonstrated success with creating strategies, long-term planning, and managing integrated timelines, resources and budgets.
  • Strong experience in Project Management processes and software.
  • Extremely organized with keen attention to detail, ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact cross-functionally at all levels of the organization including negotiating matters of significance to the organization and reconciling multiple stakeholder views.

The Senior Research Associate, Manager of Vivarium Operations, will work in a collaborative cross-functional team environment, manage vivarium operations, author in vivo protocols and standard operation procedures, execute and monitor in vivo experiments, ensure personnel are properly trained for in vivo procedures, perform in vivo and in vitro experiments, help record, organize, and analyze results, communicate effectively and present findings in team meetings. The role will also have responsibilities with managing the in vivo project activities in coordination with key stakeholders in Immuno-Oncology, Protein Engineering and Preclinical Development teams to facilitate the seamless scheduling and execution of the relevant key in vivo studies and related activities.

United States – San Francisco Bay Area, California

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently plan, execute, and analyze in vivo efficacy studies in syngeneic and xenograft tumor models, and PK/PD studies that support the initiation and/or advancement of drug candidate projects into the pipeline
  • Manage animal procurement, study scheduling, sample banking and data collection at an off-site vivarium
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and work cross-functionally with colleagues in the oncology, protein engineering, and preclinical development teams
  • Oversee and contribute to in vitro expansion of T cells and cancer cell lines for in vivo studies
  • Present research findings and recommendations to senior staff and contribute to preparation of research reports, manuscripts, INDs, and patent filings
  • Draft changes to Soteria’s IACUC protocol (e.g. animal quantities, experimental procedures, personnel changes) for review by PI and IACUC committee
  • Analyze experimental data using MS Office, Prism or comparable software
  • Present in vivo study results at project team meetings

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • BS or MS in Biology, Veterinary Science, Pharmacology, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in conducting in vivo pharmacology studies using mouse models of cancer
  • Experience designing and performing efficacy studies in mouse models of cancer
  • Experience with tissue culture of mammalian cells
  • Proficiency with various in vivo skills including dosing (IV, PO, IP), blood/tissue collection, etc.
  • Experience with in vivo imaging is desirable
  • Detail-oriented, responsible, and organized
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to manage and work in fast-paced start-up environment with effective execution of key in vivo studies is a must

  • Independently design and analyze experiments to test hypotheses about mechanism of action, new targets, and strategies to improve drug activity, based on based on high-level directives from the scientific team
  • Develop assays using multicolor flow cytometry, Luminex, and IncuCyte real-time imaging
  • Build new project-specific reagents, including CRISPR-modified and fluorescent reporter cell lines
  • Communicate your results in cross-departmental meetings and contribute to scientific planning decisions
  • Collaboratively set project goals and timelines with your supervisor
  • Stay current with the literature and scientific conferences, sharing relevant scientific and technological advances

  • Maintain sterile cultures of mammalian cell lines and primary immune cells
  • Isolate and cryopreserve human immune cells from leukapheresis packs
  • Isolate mouse immune cells from dissociated tumors and tissues
  • Reorder and restock lab consumables
  • Document experimental procedures and results in a digital lab notebook and inventory system
